The Croatian Transport Law Association (CTLA) will organize a workshop entitled “Liability of Carriers in Multimodal Transport”. This will be the 2nd workshop within the cycle “Liability of the Carrier in Land Transport”, and will be held on November 15th 2019 from 9 am to 4 pm at the premises of the University Teachers Association in Frankopanska 5a / II, Zagreb.
Did you know that despite the fact that more than 80% of international transport is carried out by combined types of transportation (i.e. multimodal transport), only multimodal transport has not yet been legally regulated by a special international convention governing the liability of carriers for damage during such transport?

This workshop will introduce participants to one of the most complex areas of transport law and will try to offer answers to a number of questions, such as:
- What is the difference between a multimodal transport undertaking and an actual carrier?
- What is multimodal, intermodal and multi-mode transport?
- What legal rules apply in the event of damage to goods during multi-modal transport?
- Who, how and to what extent is liable for damage of goods caused during multimodal transport?
- The position of the user of the multimodal carrier in case of damage to the goods or delay: from whom and how much to claim?
- The difference between network and uniform liability
- Statutes of limitations in multimodal transport
- Insurers and multimodal transport: position of insurer of goods, insurer of liability of carrier and insurer of liability of freight forwarder / logistician
- Which transport documents are issued in multimodal transport and what is their importance?
This workshop is intended for freight forwarders, carriers (road, rail and air), shipowners, judges, lawyers, transport risk insurers and researchers.
The price of HRK 850.00 comprises: lectures and practical exercises, materials and literature accompanying lectures, lunch and refreshments during breaks.
